The Department of English, was one of the pioneering departments of Sri Sathya Sai Arts & Science College, right from the time of its inception in 2018. The department started off with 28 students and two teachers. As we step into the fifth academic year, we have expanded to include 5 teachers and 113 students. Over these years our students have shone brilliantly in both curricular and co-curricular activities, earning a great reputation for the College and the Department.

The Department has organized seminars and co-curricular events like debates and food festivals for the overall development of students.
Our department has consistently ranked among the first four positions in terms of pass percentage among the affiliated colleges in the University of Kerala. We have secured first position in more than three occasions. The first batch of students have created history with100 percent pass.16 students out of 28 got admission for post-graduation in various reputed government and government-aided institutions, including multiple Central Universities. Aparna S. Kumar from the same batch has won the Chief Minister’s Student Excellence Award for her meritorious performance while doing her B.A at our college .The award has a citation and cash prize worth Rs.1,00,000/-.
Our students, Chandna M.R, Arsha Nissam, Akshara Raj and Sapthami Gopal have bagged prizes in various literary events at the University Youth Festival. Reshma G.R. of third year B.A has won the first prize in the International Classical Powerlifting Championship held at Jamshedpur. She has also won numerous prizes at national and state level championships in weight lifting. Arjun.S.Nair from third year has participated and won third prize at Intercollegiate Boxing Championships held at G V Raja Sports School, Mailom.
